Henry Fixemer, Intern
Hello! I’m Henry. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating challenges related to LGBTQIA+ identity, gender exploration, aging, neurodivergence, trauma, and grief. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative, compassionate space where every person feels heard, seen, and valued.
I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University, where I’m deepening my knowledge of evidence-based practices and building the skills to provide affirming, person-centered care.
I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive environment where clients can explore their unique experiences and build on their strengths. Together, we’ll identify your goals and craft a personalized treatment plan that works best for you. My approach is integrative—while I often draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic Theory, I believe that no single method fits all. I’m committed to using the approaches that best support your healing and growth.
I chose this path because I’ve seen how much mental health struggles can impact lives, and I’ve also witnessed the profound transformation that therapy can bring. It’s an honor to walk alongside clients as they take courageous steps toward healing and self-discovery.
As Mariska Hargitay once said: “Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.” I’m here to support you on that journey.
