All cats are exposed to different viruses during their lives. The younger or the older the animal the greater the susceptibility to illness - as is the case with humans.
When a cats immune system is battling 'invaders' it can affect the mouth, nasal passages, sinuses, and upper airways in cats and kittens. What are the Ingredients?
FCV Protect contains the following 100% homeopathic ingredients:
Feline Calicivirus (30C) is a homeopathic nosode and is a homeopathic form of the Calicivirus. Homeopathic nosodes support the body's natural resilience to harmful agents. They differ to conventional vaccines in that they are usually manufactured without using the crude form of the virus (as in many conventional vaccines.) Conventional vaccination seldom supports immunity without numerous subsequent booster shots.
Borax (30C) is a white crystalline mineral, mainly used for mouth ulcers and cold sores. Cats that would benefit from this remedy are usually impatient, easily irritable - with expressions that are anxious and earnest. They are easily startled by noise and their sleep is easily disturbed. Physical symptoms relate to the mucus membrane of the mouth, nose, gastric tract and genitals.
Phosphorus (30C) is mostly derived from North Africa in volcanic regions and is commonly known as calcium phosphate. It is commonly used for severe coughs and a sore throat.
Pulsatilla (30C): The use of Pulsatilla for medicinal purposes dates back to Ancient Greece when it was used to cure weepy eyes. In Roman times it was used for eye conditions and tooth hygeine. It is also used for cough and colds, congested catarrh and blocked noses. All the above ingredients are contained in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS). FCV Protect is registered with the FDA. Our products contain no gluten, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
How do I use FCV CatFlu Protect?
Directions: Sprinkle one pinch on the tongue once a day for three days, beginning at 12 weeks and repeating annually or when your cat has been exposed to possible infection. When there is risk of infection, FCV Protect may be administered to kittens younger than 12 weeks - this remedy is safe even for newborn kittens and pregnant queens.
Acute: Sprinkle one pinch on the tongue every two hours or until symptoms subside.
Caution: Please consult your veterinarian should symptoms persist. While some viral infections lend themselves to home treatment, others, including Feline Calicivirus (especially when the cat is anorexic) should ideally be monitored by your vet.
How long until I see results?
Results may vary, due to a number of influential factors and some cats will respond sooner than others. When used preventatively, FCV Protect should provide protection and systemic support within the first week. Advice from Sr. Cathy:
Keep your pet warm and comfortable. Provide plenty of fresh water and encourage eating by feeding small amounts of slightly warmed food often. Feed soft food as the cat with Calicivirus will have a sore mouth due to ulcers. By warming the food you will release more food odours and often this will stimulate your ailing pet's appetite. Make sure that you clean the eyes and nose three or four times daily, as necessary. Use EyeHeal for the conjunctivitis
Wash food bowls and litter trays with a 1:32 solution of household bleach. Try and contain the affected cat in an area away from other cats in the household and clean the are with the 1:32 bleach solution. The virus can remain active in the environment for 8 -10 days.
Consider using a burner with a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a little water to help with congestion or you can even try some steam therapy by running the shower and fogging up the bathroom and letting your pet breath in some of the vapours. Take care with the hot water though.
