Teeny Tots with Sniffles and Sneezes
We all know how frustrating it is to have a blocked nose and clogged chest. Now imagine that you are an infant – not yet able to blow your own nose! Very small babies may sense that they are not able to breathe properly, and fuss a lot, sometimes scratching at their faces and becoming increasingly restless. Their eyes may water, they get flustered, and before long they are crying – making it even more difficult to breathe. Sleeping soundly is virtually impossible. In small kids, blocked noses often mean sleeping with their mouths open – leaving them vulnerable to sore throats. A blocked nose may also lead to blocked sinuses, earache and further distress and pain.
The immune system is triggered to fight invading germs, causing a build up of mucos and fluid in the nose and chest. However, congestion means that the germs are lodged in the body – unable to exit freely through the nose. That is why it is important to get the mucus flowing freely.
A note on over the counter decongestants and other medication
While conventional decongestant medicines may be useful for some children, they can have upsetting side-effects such as irritability, restlessness, difficulty with sleeping, or drowsiness depending on which is used. Also, remember that the natural process in the body is to expel germs through mucus (so the runny stuff is good)! Try not to give your child anything that blocks or dries up passages – further aggravating the condition. Some medications can dry out mucus membranes, and while a child may not have a runny nose – he or she may then be left vulnerable to secondary conditions. Never give a child younger than 15 years aspirin – as this could potentially lead to a more serious condition. Also, make sure any conventional vapor rubs that are rubbed onto the skin are not used for very young children - some contain chemicals (especially harmful petrochemicals) that could be dangerous, especially if they are swallowed.
The Natural Way!
There are many natural ways to help open blocked and congested noses and chests to promote easy breathing. Children in particular become very agitated and restless when their breathing is hindered. It is a good idea to encourage the expulsion of any mucus through therapeutic techniques such as back rubs and massage. Peppermint oils can also be utilized in a child’s bedroom, or try a natural room or pillow spray that can soothe a child through natural vapors. Increasing the moisture in the air in the room using a vaporiser may be helpful, but the vaporiser must be used safely and kept out of reach of children. Herbal teas with lemon and eucalyptus can also help to open airways, while the traditional recipe of clear chicken or onion soup is an excellent convalescent diet, containing immune boosting properties to speed healing (Grandma was right – again!). Try to exclude mucus forming food and drinks like milk products, chocolates or food containing known allergens, additives and preservatives.
How has Sniffly Sprinkles helped others?
My twin boys are 10 months old. They are very fussy when it comes to medication, and it has always been hard to administer treatments – especially when they are not well… until now! These Sprinkles are amazing, and no fuss at all. Best thing is, they really help with runny noses, coughs and fussing when my boys are not feeling well. Thank you for a product that I know can’t harm them!" Shayla, California
I have become a favorite uncle thanks to these sprinkles. My sister calls me at the first signs of sniffles with my nieces and nephews. She already uses KiddieBoost, but I get to bring round the sprinkles – which the kids love. I’ve been told they look forward to it when they start coughing and sneezing, and they sleep better too, less congested! Thanks a lot ” Famous Uncle Trey
Hi There. I run a daycare for 25 kids. Almost daily, one of them has a runny nose – I have been using Sniffly Sprinkles for a month now (with the parents permission of course) and the outcome has been very positive. I really love that they are completely safe and natural. Thanks from my little tots, for ‘medicine’ that tastes great too! Good job! ” Angie, Dallas
Ingredients:
Natrum muriaticum (D6) is a biochemic tissue salt that helps to support healthy water balance in the body. According to the principles of biochemistry, imbalances in this area can lead to a variety of complaints including congestion, dripping noses, sinus problems, and wet chests. This remedy is often used in relation to runny discharges, thin watery runny nose where the discharge is often colorless but relentless in the morning. There may also be a cough after a period of wet, watery chest congestion.
Ferrum. phos. (D6) The child who may benefit from this remedy may flush easily and may also suffer from stomach and respiratory complaints – especially from cold weather or being out at night.
Nux vomica (30C) This is a proven homeopathic remedy used to encourage a clear nose both night and day and is an excellent calming remedy for restless, irritable children.
Alium cepa (6C) This is another proven homeopathic remedy that is frequently used to promote clear eyes and noses and help the body in its quest to rid excess mucus.
Pulsatilla nigricans (6C) This beneficial herb was originally only found wild in the very north of Europe including Scandinavia but has since spread to all but the very southern parts of Europe. The use of Pulsatilla for medicinal purposes dates back to Ancient Greece when it was used to cure weepy eyes. It is beneficial when addressing heavily congested and blocked noses, sore throat and earache.
How do I use Sniffly Sprinkles?
Dosage: Sprinkle a pinch onto the tongue every hour or until symptoms subside. May be used together with KiddieBoost for ongoing immune system support and Congesto-K KiddieRub to encourage decongestion without harsh drugs.
Sniffly Sprinkles are presented in fine, lactose granules that dissolve easily on a child’s tongue. This makes Sniffly Sprinkles a pleasure to administer to children, including babies. Even children who have lost their appetites due to feeling unwell will readily take their Sniffly Sprinkles!
Note: Safe for all ages, including during infancy.
Please consult your doctor if symptoms worsen or if a child has severe difficulty breathing.
Avoid strong mint flavored candy that may reduce the effectiveness of the remedy.
How long until I see results?
Response times vary from individual to individual, based on their physiological make up and other circumstances. While some individuals show an immediate improvement that increases over time, others will see results after 3 - 5 doses. The remedy may be taken every half hour while symptoms are acute. Effectiveness is greatly increased if the recommendations are followed regarding adequate rest, sufficient sleep and a healthy diet – all of which go a long way in contributing to immune system support in children!
How long will a bottle last?
Sniffly Sprinkles come in a 20g bottle of fine granules and contains approximately 135 doses. Exactly how long a bottle lasts will depend on the frequency of use.
