All about Tummy Trumbles
Natural Kids Tummy Trumbles is a complex herbal and
homeopathic remedy that is 100% safe and natural. Especially formulated for
children, Tummy Trumbles comes in convenient drop form, making it easy to
administer to children in a little water or their favourite juice.
All children experience a runny tummy at some point,
usually due to a 'tummy bug' or something they have eaten. An upset tummy is
very uncomfortable and can really make children feel terrible. No matter how
many times they go the bathroom the urge keeps coming back again and the
cramping stomach pains can be very distressing. Natural Kids Tummy Trumbles
will help to reduce diarrhea as well as alleviate the associated
cramps. The soothing ingredients in this unique formulation will calm
your child’s distress, encourage rest and recovery and simultaneously boost
the immune system.
Like all Feelgood Health products, Tummy Trumbles has been
developed with care by our practising Clinical Psychologist, is 100% natural
and manufactured according to the highest pharmaceutical standards.
Individual ingredients are well-researched and have been specially chosen
for their high safety profile in childrens’ remedies.
What
are the Ingredients?
Natural Kids Tummy Trumbles contains the following
carefully chosen herbal and homeopathic ingredients in therapeutic dosages:
Agrimonia Eupatoria (Agrimony)
has a long history of use and was even used by the Ancient Greeks
as a digestive tonic. Agrimony is an effective herb for treating diarrhoea
and will also
reduce
colicky, cramping stomach pains. The analgesic, anti-inflammatory and
anti-viral properties make Agrimony an ideal natural remedy for 'tummy
bugs'.
Alchemilla Vulgaris (Lady’s Mantle)
is an astringent herb (decreases secretions) that has been
used since the Middle Ages for the treatment of diarrhoea and stomach cramps.
Alchemilla also contains tannins, which form a protective layer in the
digestive tract, as well as salicylic acid which will reduce pain and
inflammation. Salicylic acid is present in a number of medicinal herbs and
is a natural form of aspirin. Due to the natural buffering effect of whole
spectrum herbs, this provides pain relieving properties without the side
effects of pharmaceutical aspirin.
Zingiber officinalis (Ginger)
has been used since ancient times in Asian, Arabic and Indian herbal
traditions and is an excellent remedy for all digestive complaints. Ginger
will not only help to treat diarrhoea but is also clinically proven to
alleviate nausea and boost the immune system.
Podophyllum (6C) is
a homeopathic remedy for profuse, explosive, watery diarrhoea that is usually
preceded by abdominal rumbles and gurgles.
Arsen alb. (6C)
is a homeopathic remedy that is particularly effective in treating diarrhoea
accompanied by anxiety and restlessness
Tummy Trumbles contains less than 1% pure pharmaceutical grade
ethanol when diluted as directed.
How has Tummy
Trumbles helped other children?
“My daughter
is at day care and picks up everything going. Every time she has an upset
stomach she is so miserable and I battle to get her take anything in. I came
across your Tummy Trumbles on the internet and decided to buy them for the
next time. I used them last week and what a difference they made to her!
Thank you for a really great product”
Lorraine, AL
“I have a
ten year old son who has quite a sensitive stomach which plays up often,
even when he is anxious. My sister-in-law recommended Tummy Trumbles to me a
few months ago and they have made such a difference to Tyrone – I will never
be without them again” Mrs H Sheridan
“We have
four children under the age of 8 so you can imagine how bugs are spread
around our house. One of the things that they come home with the most often
is diarrhea. Before we know it they have all come down with the bug and it
is very difficult looking after them all. I tried your Tummy Trumbles
mixture for the first time last month and it made such a difference – they
all got better so much quicker and were much calmer and easier to look
after. What a relief to find something that works!”
Extremely Grateful Mom, Florida

Information on Diarrhoea in
Children
Please note that this information is offered for
educational purposes only and is not intended to be a substitute for
professional medical attention. When in doubt, please consult your health
practitioner.
Diarrhoea Defined!
Diarrhoea is defined as the passage of frequent loose,
watery, soft stools usually accompanied by stomach cramps, gas and a bloated
feeling. It is one of the commonest illnesses in children and adults alike.
It is estimated that children under 3 years of age experience at least 2
bouts of diarrhoea per year.
Most episodes of diarrhoea are short lived, self-limiting
and can be managed effectively at home with supportive measures and the
prevention of dehydration. Occasionally the diarrhoea is severe enough to
warrant hospitalization and this is usually due to complications, such as
dehydration, or to a serious infection.
Dehydration can be a very serious problem, even fatal if
not treated properly. If the diarrhoea is accompanied by vomiting, the risk of
your child becoming dehydrated is increased. As young children are
particularly susceptible to dehydration, it is very important to monitor your
child with diarrhoea and keep up their fluid intake. (see 'When should I
worry' below)
What can cause diarrhoea?
There are a number of potential causes of acute (less than 14
days) diarrhoea in your child and these are the most common:
Viral infections
– this is the most common cause and typically causes mild to moderate
symptoms
Bacterial Infections. Bacterial infections tend to cause more serious
cases of diarrhoea. The following symptoms may be present:
-
Very frequent watery
diarrhoea
-
High fever
-
Severe stomach cramps
-
Vomiting is also
often present
-
Mucus, pus or blood
in the stool (dysentery) in severe cases
Parasitic Infections
– These causes are not as common and can resemble either viral or bacterial
diarrhoea. Parasitic infections are usually picked up from contaminated water
or from animals. When suspected the parasites can usually be identified in
the stool.
Food Poisoning
– Virtually any foodstuff can become contaminated with a virus, bacteria or
parasite and can cause diarrhoea and vomiting. Symptoms are usually
mild-moderate and may be as follows:
-
Symptoms begin
shortly after eating the contaminated food
-
Mild-moderate
diarrhoea, vomiting and cramps
-
Most cases usually
clear up relatively quickly, but can occasionally be very severe
-
All persons who ate
the contaminated food are usually affected
Antibiotics
– Diarrhoea is a common side-effect of many antibiotics and prescription
medications
While there are a number of causes of chronic, long term
diarrhoea (e.g. food allergies) they are not as common and, except for
Toddlers Diarrhoea, will not covered here.
What is Toddlers Diarrhoea?
Toddler’s Diarrhoea can be chronic and go on for a very long
time. While it is not a serious condition it is usually very distressing and
worrying for parents. Your doctor will first want to exclude other causes of
chronic diarrhoea, before diagnosing your child with toddler’s diarrhoea, but
typical symptoms are as follows:
-
Usually occurs in
children between 6 months and 3 years of age
-
Loose watery stools
but without a fever, vomiting or stomach pains
-
Child will have a
normal appetite and will be growing and developing normally
If your doctor suspects that your child has toddlers
diarrhoea, try the following suggestions:
-
Decrease the amount
of fluids that your child drinks, especially juice. Many children with toddler’s diarrhoea
tend to drink excessive amounts of juice
-
Avoid fruit juices
that are high in sorbitol or fructose - eg. store-bought apple juice and
pear juice. Rather encourage your child to drink water or diluted, home
made orange or grape juice.
-
Cranberry juice is astringent and can help
-
Increase the amount
of fat and fibre in your child’s diet
-
Experiment with
eliminating wheat and dairy products from the diet one at a time for a
week or two.
A word of encouragement – if your little one does have
toddler’s diarrhoea just remember that it will not last forever.
Children usually grow out of it without any complications!
How will I know if my child is
dehydrated?
Diarrhoea and vomiting can lead to dehydration if too much
fluid is lost from the body. Dehydration is a sign of potentially serious
disease and can come on very quickly in babies and children. Signs of
dehydration to watch out for include:
-
Dry mouth
-
Sunken eyes
-
Not urinating as
often as normal or less wet nappies than normal
-
Urine that is darker
then normal
-
Loss of appetite and
weight
-
Thirsty
-
Irritability – babies
can show thirst by crying and being very irritable and then eager to
drink when something is offered
-
Fast heartbeat
-
No tears when crying
-
The fontanel (soft
spot on the top of your baby’s head) is sunken
-
Your baby is sleepy
or lethargic and won’t take a bottle
-
Skin doesn’t feel as
springy as normal
If you are at all concerned that your child may be showing
signs of dehydration please seek urgent medical attention.
What can I do to at home
to care for my child?
Lots of tender loving care, plenty of fluids and Natural Kids Tummy
Trumbles will go a long way to helping your child. You can try these
practical home suggestions to help look after little one:
·
Drink lots
of fluids. Offer young babies a bottle very frequently and try to get your
older child to drink plenty of water or clear fluids
·
You can
offer a rehydration fluid as this contains not only water but also all the
important electrolytes (salts) that are lost in the stool
·
Rehydration
solutions are available commercially or you can make one up yourself by
adding one teaspoon of salt and 8 teaspoons of sugar to one litre of
previously boiled water.
·
If your
baby or child can’t keep down a full bottle or glass try to give very small
volumes at frequent intervals. As they improve increase the volume of fluid
given at each occasion.
·
Let your
older child suck on ice chips (not for toddlers or babies!)
·
Avoid
fatty, greasy, sugary foods. Offer the BRAT diet – bananas, rice, applesauce
and toast
·
Avoid
caffeinated beverages as caffeine can cause your body to lose more fluid
·
Try to
avoid dairy products as they can worsen the diarrhoea
Your child should show great improvement within a couple of
days. If you feel that no significant improvement is being made, if your
child is getting worse or you are at all concerned about dehydration please
contact your health care provider as a matter of urgency.
When should I worry?
Diarrhoea is usually well managed with home care, but if any
of the following apply to your child, please contact your health care
provider:
·
You have
any concerns that your child may be dehydrated or you need advice about
preventing dehydration
·
Your baby
is less than 6 months old
·
Your baby
or child is unable to tolerate anything to drink or eat for more than a few
hours
·
Your child
has an extremely high temperature
·
There is
any blood or mucous in the stool
·
If your
child has a stiff neck, appears lethargic or is very sleepy - seek emergency
medical attention
·
If your
child’s symptoms don’t improve within 2 or 3 days or seem to be getting
worse
·
If your
child has significant stomach pain
·
If you have
recently been abroad with your child
How can I prevent my child from getting diarrhoea?
Many cases of diarrhoea are rapidly spread from one child to
another, especially in places where lots of children are together such as
day care or school. These simple tips will help you to prevent the spread of
diarrhoea:
·
Get
children to wash their hands after using the bathroom
·
Wash your
hands after changing diapers (nappies)
·
Avoid
unpasteurized milk
and other dairy products
·
Use care
when preparing raw meat and poultry and cook meat at the recommended
temperatures
·
Wash
utensils used to chop raw meat well in hot soapy water
·
Fruit and
vegetables that are going to be eaten raw should be well rinsed in clean
water
·
Take
precautions with water supply and food when travelling abroad
