Relax as the first stage of labour begins...
After nine months, suddenly a contraction. It has begun! The first stage of labour begins with regular uterine contractions and the rupture of the membranes or ‘water breaking’. This can be a very exciting time – but it can also last anywhere from a few hours to days! A quick birth is often the experience most mom’s wish for (the anticipation of the new baby is great), yet the body has it’s own inner clock, and each woman is different. There are many stories of spicy food bringing on labour… but the best plan is often to follow the timeline nature has scheduled. Having said this, there are natural ways to promote labour in a gentle manner.
The Natural Way
Prepare yourself mentally, physically and spiritually for the birth by reading books on childbirth, joining a support group for pregnant women, speaking to mothers of children or even your own mother or mother-in-law. Taking good care of yourself in the form of a balanced diet, getting enough rest, relieving stress, meditating and talking with your partner about the future will be invaluable in preparing yourself for labor, birth and parenthood. Organize a birth plan including the place you would like to deliver, who should be present and your preferences of medical interventions in different circumstances. A supportive environment at the birth has been shown to be one of the most important factors in the speed of delivery and how much pain the mother feels. Think carefully about who you would like to have present at the birth for support and consider a trained doula or birthing assistant.

How do I use Tranquil BirthBath?
DIRECTIONS:
Pour half to one capful under hot running water and relax in the bath during the first stage of labor for as long as is desired. The birth assistant should make sure that the water does not become cold and should top up with more hot water and a few drops of Tranquil BirthBath from time to time. Examinations by the midwife to check dilation and the progress of labor may safely be performed while in the bath. Keep warm towels and soft, loose clothing ready for when the mother is ready to get out of the bath to begin delivery of the baby.
NOTE:

How long until I see results?
The active ingredients in this remedy are dispersed upon contact with the warm water and get to work quickly and effectively, providing a calming a soothing effect for the birthing mother.
How long will a bottle last?
Used only during the initial stages of labor, only a half to one capful is needed added to a warm bath. Many birthing mothers like to spend some time in the tub, and more bath oil may be added as the tub is topped up with warm water. However, one bottle of Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath is more than sufficient for one labor.
As this remedy has a long shelf life, the remainder of the bottle may be used for subsequent births within a 5 year period. Many of our customers like to use Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath in the months ahead, even after their babies have been born.

Q: What about water births?
A:
Delivering in water - usually a birthing pool or bath - is gaining in popularity and has many advantages for both mother and baby. Water births offer greater comfort and mobility for the mother and facilitate efficient contractions while at the same time reducing pain. Warm water can reduce the need for drugs - both those for pain and drugs used to stimulate contractions artificially. Often, simply getting into the tub will result in dramatic and rapid progress to full dilation within an hour or two. Laboring and delivering in water helps the mother to relax, regulates blood pressure and makes for a generally more gentle birth experience. As Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath is formulated for helping the mother during the early stages of labor, it is not recommended for adding to a water bath that is to be used for the actual delivery.
