Keep baby bottoms healthy
Diaper (nappy) rash is an extremely common problem for babies and toddlers who are still in diapers. This broad term refers to any rash that is found in the diaper area and actually covers skin irritations that are due to a wide variety of causes, including rashes caused by allergies, fungal or bacterial infection. Most diaper rashes are simply a consequence of the moist and enclosed environment inside a diaper as well as the friction between the skin and diaper material. This may cause the tender skin in the diaper area to become vulnerable to other skin infections.
Babies with diaper rash often become extremely temperamental and “grouchy” obviously due to the discomfort, and for moms of these little ones, diaper rash can be a very frustrating problem. All mothers hate to see their babies uncomfortable and in pain!
The Natural Way
Make sure you check and change your baby’s diaper often throughout the day and instruct anyone else that cares for your child to do the same. It is always a good idea to rinse your baby’s bottom with warm water after each nappy change, or clean thoroughly with a soft washcloth or cotton swabs. Never scrub baby’s bottom as this will aggravate the skin further. After each wash, pat the skin dry gently with a soft towel. Avoid using baby wipes that contain alcohol or fragranced chemicals on your baby’s bottom as babies with sensitive skin can also have a reaction to other products such as fragranced creams and washing detergents. Don’t fit nappies on too tightly as this can cause added chaffing to the skin. Tight nappies also restrict the amount of airflow in and out of the nappy that can create a warm moist area that bacteria thrive on. Let baby bottoms breath as much as possible!
There’s nothing like letting your baby enjoy a little time spent in the fresh air without a nappy on to both prevent and help clear a bout of nappy rash. Use a preventative, or barrier ointment to help guard against nappy rash, especially if it tends to be a common occurrence.
What is Diaper Distress Cream?
Diaper Distress Cream is a wonderfully soothing and healing cream for both prevention and treatment of diaper rash. Steroid creams sometimes recommended for diaper rash are not always the safest for your baby as the enclosed environment of a diaper can cause absorption of the steroid cream into the bloodstream and lead to side-effects. NaturalEco Diaper Distress Cream is formulated with natural herbal and aromatherapeutic ingredients to safely and effectively prevent, soothe and clear your baby’s diaper rash, without the risk of unwanted side effects.
How has Diaper Distress Cream helped others?
'I used and loved your pregnancy products so I was thrilled to find out that you have remedies for babies as well. Your Diaper Distress Cream really saved my baby from the continued discomfort of a bad case of diaper rash. He was crying almost constantly - I guess because it was painful or itchy or just plain uncomfortable! I felt so bad for him! After just one application of your cream he settled down and after 2 days the rash was pretty much a memory. Keep making your great natural products - it is wonderful to have natural and effective alternatives to the OTC and prescription meds.'

'A big thank you from both me and my 2 month old daughter for your Diaper Distress Cream: what a life-saver! Her stubborn diaper rash was making us both miserable and I had tried a number of other products recommended by my doctor and pharmacist. Some of them cleared it up for a short while only for the rash to return with a vengeance. Diaper Distress Cream got rid of the rash and kept it away- at last! Thanks again!'

Baby's skin will be nourished and soothed from the first application, with a protective barrier being built up with each application thereafter.

FAQ’s
Q: What is diaper rash?
A:
Diaper, or nappy rash is the most common skin problem in infants and most babies experience it at some time or another. Diaper rash is found in any area covered by the diaper but is most commonly found between the legs, in areas of friction where the diaper is tight on the skin (around the waist and upper thighs) and in the skin folds.
Q: What can cause diaper rash?
A:
Diaper rash may involve a number of infectious organisms but, for the most part, it is just an irritation due to contact with moisture, continuous friction and the effect of enzymes and chemicals from urine or feces on the skin. Less commonly, an allergy to the diaper fabric, harsh soaps, creams or baby wipes may cause or aggravate diaper rash.
Q: When should I contact my health care provider?
A:
If your baby develops a fever or the rash does not improve after a few days it is best to consult your doctor. A bright red rash which is warm to the touch and has large bumps, blisters or boils needs medical attention.
Q: What else can help?
Change your baby’s diaper/nappy often.
Let your baby’s skin dry completely before putting a clean diaper on and leave him/her diaper-free whenever possible.
Natural sunlight and fresh air are very beneficial to the diaper area (don't overdo the sun though!)
When putting a diaper on make sure that it is loose enough for air to circulate.
Avoid harsh soaps, baby wipes, or any fragranced products.
If using cloth diapers ensure that they are washed thoroughly in very hot water and that all detergent is thoroughly rinsed out of them.
Don’t use steroid creams on diaper rash- the enclosed environment of a diaper can cause absorption of the steroid cream into the bloodstream and lead to side-effects.
