AfterBirth Drops*
What are AfterBirth Drops and how can they help
me?
Once the challenges of labor and delivery are over and you are
holding your dear new baby in your arms at last, it is time
for the third and last stage of labor - the delivery of the placenta.
This is the last hurdle you need to cross before you are home
free! While you will probably be feeling excited and elated to
be seeing your baby for the first time, exhaustion at this time
is normal and understandable after all your hard work in the first
two stages of labor.
To facilitate the contractions needed to expel the placenta and
relax the mother after delivery of the baby, many midwives have
traditionally used certain herbs known for their beneficial properties
during this final stage of labor. BabyNature's AfterBirth Drops
are formulated with four natural, herbal ingredients chosen for
their ability to re-energize, speed up delivery of the placenta
and begin the process of recovery after childbirth. AfterBirth
Drops are also wonderful for promoting production of breast-milk
and calming and enhancing mood.

How do I use AfterBirth Drops?
Use during the Third Stage of Labor (delivery of the placenta).
Add approximately 1/4 cup just boiled water to 5-10 drops of tincture
and allow it to cool (This can be prepared up to 24 hours beforehand
if you like). Drink as is or dilute further in water or
juice. Repeat after 1/2 hour if necessary.
Use under the supervision of a doctor, homeopath, naturopath, midwife
or doula.
What
are the ingredients in BabyNature’s Afterbirth Drops?
Afterbirth Drops contain the following proven, herbal ingredients
to assist with the third stage of labor:
Cimicifuga racemosa is also known as Black Cohosh and is widely used for
relieving the pain of uterine contractions and calming emotional
stress. Black Cohosh is also excellent for speeding up the
third stage of labor and preventing postpartum bleeding.
Viburnum prunifolium (Cramp Bark)
relaxes tension and stress. This herb also relieves pain,
specifically in the pelvic area and originating from the uterus.
Pulsatilla vulgaris
(Pasque Flower) is widely used for relief of nervous tension.
It is also highly effective in treating pain and exhaustion in
women. Pasque Flower’s analgesic properties are known to be particularly
useful during childbirth. Pasque Flower improves mood and
is useful for preventing post-natal depression.
Fennel seeds are used primarily for settling the digestive system
but are also very effective at promoting breast-milk production.

FAQ’s
What is the third stage of labor?
The third stage of labor takes place soon after you have delivered
your new baby and involves the delivery of the placenta and membranes
which have been nourishing and protecting your unborn child for
the last 9 months.
The third stage is the shortest stage of labor and generally lasts
only 15-20 minutes. Contractions will be weaker and labor
pains not as severe as the previous stages. Exhaustion is the
most common problem! The excitement of holding the new baby often
eases women through the delivery of the placenta, although many
find that they are tired out by the time the baby has been born
and find it difficult to summon up the energy to deliver the placenta.
BabyNature's AfterBirth Drops, mixed in a little water or juice,
will help you to complete this last stage of labor, using the
traditional wisdom that herbalists and midwives have used over
the ages to help women just like you!
Can I begin breastfeeding before the third stage is over?
Breastfeeding should be started as soon after delivery of your
baby as is possible. The third stage of labor is an excellent
time to put your new little one to the breast. This will
not only encourage bonding between the two of you but will also
speed up delivery of the placenta and increase the tone of the
uterus, preventing bleeding. Although actual mature breastmilk
is not yet available, the baby will benefit from the colostrum
(or 'first milk') that is produced in the first few days after
birth. This contains important nutrients and also
provides protection from disease and illness in the form of
antibodies from the mother’s own immune system, thereby
protecting your baby against illness and infection.
What else can help?
The time immediately following your baby’s birth, even before
the placenta is delivered, is a crucial period for bonding.
Of course, you will want to see and cuddle your new little one
as much as possible anyway. Most routine newborn procedures
can be done without taking your baby away, so don’t allow him/her
to be separated from you at first, unless it is medically necessary.
Procedures such as weighing and eye drops, if necessary, can be delayed for a
while.
The most important thing at this stage is for you and your partner
to relax and bond with the newest little addition to your family!
How have Afterbirth Drops helped others?
'I
am a firm believer in the use of natural products and used your
remedies throughout my pregnancy. My labor went well and
I managed to avoid all types of artificial, medical intervention.
By the time I had delivered Kayla, though, I could not believe
that I still had to push more to deliver the placenta! I
was ready to collapse from the effort of the previous hours!
I am so glad my midwife remembered about my Afterbirth drops and
gave them to me to take. Within minutes I felt motivated,
clear-headed and ready to give those last few pushes that were
needed of me. Thank you - your products helped
me every step of the way!' Valerie P, WV
'Thank
you for all your wonderful, natural “helpers” for labor.
These were recommended to me by the Natural Birthing Center I
attended and I really feel that they made the process easier and
more positive for me. I ordered your Complete Birth Pack and I
particularly loved your Birth Drops and Afterbirth Drops.
These remedies helped me so much when I was feeling desperate
and helpless as if I could not go on. Just wanted to let
you know that your remedies are making a difference to many pregnant
women and new mums out there!' Susan, SC
