What is Cradle-Cap?
Cradle-cap is a very common condition among infants. It
usually appears on the scalp and occurs mostly between the
ages of two and six months. You may have noticed thick
yellow, oily or scaly patches on your little one’s scalp or
in some cases just dry, flaking skin.
This condition does not seem to bother babies much. When it
becomes severe it may cause itching, but it generally is not
painful.
Left untreated, cradle-cap often clears on its own over
several months though these patches may persist or recur in
some infants. In severe cases, cradle-cap may spread to the
face, armpits and diaper area and it is therefore a good
idea to address cradle cap from a preventative point of view
and also to prevent the unsightly appearance often
associated with the condition - even though this may worry
mothers more than their babies!
What is Cradle-Cap Salve?
Cradle Cap Salve is a conditioning and healing cream for the
prevention and treatment of cradle-cap. This natural remedy
will clear cradle-cap, preventing spread and infection and
includes specially chosen all-natural ingredients which are
gentle, effective, yet safe to use on baby skin.
How do I use
Cradle-Cap Salve?
Apply to affected area once or twice daily, especially after
a bath. For external use only.
Caution: Please
consult your health professional if the problem
persists. Not recommended for those with an allergy to nuts.
What are the Ingredients?
Cradle-Cap Salve contains the following proven, natural
ingredients in a gentle, aromacare cream base:
Viola (Heartsease)
has a
long history of medicinal use and is a purifying herb. Used
topically, Viola is excellent in the treatment of a wide
range of skin conditions and eruptions including eczema and
cradle cap.
Calendula
(Marigold) is an herbal ingredient used to treat skin
problems and promote healing. It is an excellent
anti-inflammatory and prevents infection with its
anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.
Marigold has also been shown to assist the regeneration of
damaged skin tissue.
Centella asiatica
(Gotu Kola) is used topically to treat skin irritation and
conditions. It also stimulates circulation and promotes skin
healing.
Almond Oil
is a natural moisturizing oil that is completely neutral and
perfect for the sensitive skin on babies’ scalps.
No artificial colors or
fragrances are added.
What do our customers
say?
'When my 4 month old son developed cradle-cap I wasn’t
too worried as my previous two children had both had it
mildly for just a month or two before it disappeared on its
own. After 3 months though, it was much worse and showed no
signs of disappearing at all. I found your natural
Cradle-Cap cream salve on the internet and I must say that
I’m impressed. My son’s cradle-cap looked better after the
very first application and now, after a week of use, it has
almost completely disappeared. What a great product-
thanks!' Camilla S.
'I just wanted to let you know what good results I had
with your Cradle-Cap Salve. My little one, Shaun, had
cradle-cap from a few weeks of age and it really looked
awful. His poor little head looked so terrible that it
became the focus of attention whenever anyone looked at him
- even strangers! The Cradle-Cap Salve was recommended to me
and it really worked! Shaun’s scalp cleared completely and
now it’s his lovely thick hair that gets attention!'

FAQ’s
What causes cradle cap?
Inflammation of the oil-producing glands in the scalp is
what leads to cradle-cap, though the reason this happens is
not completely clear. The most likely explanation seems to
be that hormones released by the mother during the final
stages of pregnancy affect the unborn baby and cause
excessive stimulation of the oil-producing glands. It is
also possible that fungal overgrowth on the scalp
contributes to the development of cradle-cap.
How
can I prevent cradle-cap recurring?
Once
your baby’s cradle-cap has cleared, frequent shampooing with
a mild baby shampoo (Though no more than about 2-3 times per
week.) should prevent the condition coming back.
When should I contact my health care provider?
Consult your baby’s health care provider if the cradle cap
persists, becomes more severe and looks red and raw or if it
spreads beyond the scalp.
What else can help?
After using Cradle-Cap Salve, gently rub your baby’s scalp
with a soft towel. This will loosen flakes which can then
be combed or brushed out with a soft brush. Don’t rub too
vigorously or try to remove any scaly patches that are still
adherent- these will come off over the next few days and it
is best not to risk further irritation and infection. Follow
by washing with a mild, baby shampoo.
