"All three of my children were born at home with the help of a midwife. While in labor with my second child, the midwife suggested I spend some time in a warm and fragrant bath. With her and my husband sitting on the bathroom floor, I was definitely the one having the best time - even drifting off to a dreamy sleep in-between contractions! The combination of the warm water and the oils certainly made for a shorter and more relaxed labor and we were all, including the midwife, astonished to find that I was ready to deliver after only two hours - especially as my first child took more than 20 hours to arrive!" What is Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath and how can it help you?

Warm water is well known to relax and assist women during labor.  Spending time in the bath during the first stages of labor is very relaxing and helps to soothe the mother and promote contractions. Aromatherapy oils added to the bath water can be of great benefit and can help to relax as well as to stimulate contractions and therefore speed up the process naturally.

Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath is formulated according to the therapeutic principles of aromatherapy and contains natural therapeutic grade essential oils of Clary Sage, Clove, Neroli and Jasmine for relaxation, pain relief and promotion of efficient labor. Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath is recommended as a wonderful relaxing aid to the birth process. A wonderful, warm, fragrant bath during the first stage of labor is invaluable in reducing pain and promoting contractions, helping the mother to relax and conserve her energy for the actual delivery.

How do I use Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath?

Pour half to one capful under hot running water and relax in the bath during the first stage of labor for as long as is desired. The birth assistant should make sure that the water does not become cold and should top up with more hot water and a few drops of Aromatic BirthBath from time to time. Examinations by the midwife to check dilation and the progress of labor may safely be performed while in the bath. Keep warm towels and soft, loose clothing ready for when the mother is ready to get out of the bath to begin delivery of the baby.

We also highly recommend our HeavenlyLabor Massage Oil during labor to help with back pains, assist contractions and to relax and soothe the mother in labor.

What are the ingredients in Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath?

This therapeutic bath oil contains the following pure essential aromatherapy oils of Clary Sage, Clove, Jasmine and Neroli in a natural vegetable carrier oil.

Clary Sage oil strengthens the respiratory and muscular systems in labor while facilitating regular, effective contractions to speed up the process.  This essential oil also relieves pain and tension.

Neroli oil brightens the spirit and brings clarity to the mind.  This essential oil improves circulation throughout the body and reduces fear and anxiety.

Jasmine Oil dulls uterine pain, strengthens contractions during labor and promotes healthy production of breast-milk.

Clove oil stimulates contractions, facilitating the birth process.  This oil is useful for its antiseptic and pain relieving properties and will also prevent nausea and vomiting, sometimes experienced during labor.

FAQ’s

What about Water Births?

Delivering in water - usually a birthing pool or bath - is gaining in popularity and has many advantages for both mother and baby.  Water births offer greater comfort and mobility for the mother and facilitate efficient contractions while at the same time reducing pain.  Warm water can reduce the need for drugs - both those for pain and drugs used to stimulate contractions artificially. Often, simply getting into the tub will result in dramatic and rapid progress to full dilation within an hour or two.  Laboring and delivering in water helps the mother to relax, regulates blood pressure and makes for a generally more gentle birth experience.  As Tranquil Aromatic BirthBath is formulated for helping the mother during the early stages of labor, it is not recommended for adding to a water bath that is to be used for the actual delivery.

Is this bath oil safe to use in labor?

The therapeutic oils used in Tranquil BirthBath are chosen for their safety and effectiveness during the early stages of labor.

Can I use this bath oil during pregnancy?

No - as the oils chosen for Tranquil BirthBath are known to stimulate contractions, this bath oil is not recommended during pregnancy and is to be used during the early stages of labor only. However, BabyNature MellowMama Bath Oil contains aromatherapy oils especially chosen for safety and relaxation during pregnancy.

Can I use this bath oil for my baby?

No - this bath oil is intended for adult women during the early stages of labor. New babies have very sensitive skin and only certain aromatherapy essential oils can be used on newborns or infants.  See our BabyNature Infant Massage Oil (Birth - 12 weeks) and BabyNature Blissful Baby Massage Oil (for babies over 12 weeks).

What else is important?

  • Prepare yourself mentally, physically and spiritually for the birth by reading books on childbirth, joining a support group for pregnant women, speaking to mothers of children or even your own mother or mother-in-law.  Taking good care of yourself in the form of a balanced diet, getting enough rest, relieving stress, meditating and talking with your partner about the future will be invaluable in preparing yourself for labor, birth and parenthood.
  • Organize a birth plan including the place you would like to deliver, who should be present and your preferences of medical interventions in different circumstances.
  • A supportive environment at the birth has been shown to be one of the most important factors in the speed of delivery and how much pain the mother feels.  Think carefully about who you would like to have present at the birth for support and consider a trained doula or birthing assistant.

What do others say about our Tranquil BirthBath?

'I used your Tranquil BirthBath product when I was in labor with my son 2 months ago.  I have been using it for my bath whenever I get a chance now and the fragrance brings back the most vivid and precious memories of that challenging yet very special night that Julian was born.  Thank you for your lovely products- I am a BIG fan!' Tori, AL

'Tranquil Birth Bath and Heavenly Labor Massage Oil made my childbirth experience a lot more manageable than what I could have imagined and compared to the stories I have heard from friends.  I took a long, relaxing bath during the first stage of my labor with Tranquil BirthBath which was just divine and I felt very relaxed and positive. Would you believe that I even fell asleep in the bath during labor!  The Massage Oil was lovely too- you can't imagine how much having my husband massage my lower back relieved the labor pains.  Thank you for helping me to have a beautiful, natural childbirth experience!' Sherrie, SD
